Let's assume that a painting does only exist as process.
Could one unveil a painting and, if so, to which degree?
In the beginning I had the idea to do a painting that I would cut into pieces and sent those to some of my friends or even anybody... a way to disappear or to go public. The exhibition space would have been split up into many different places and it would have taken a whole trip to visit it. Let's assume non-authoritarian communication as possible.
Does one need a public and if so, which sort of public is required, and which sort of public do we want? Let's assume I would be ad infinitum my only public. Would this still be a matter of art? Would the best kind of art be in our backyards and occiputs?
In this project of hybrid painting I would like to show the things in order of their occurance, and the world as effort - "visible in a second puissance", as Merleau-Ponty says about the work of the painter painting the act of vision. My focus is on what would disappear when you look at the final product in the end. What's happening between the layers?
To the artifice of painting I'm adding the one of photography, film, retouch and reframing in order to show the act of vision as process, creation and framing of the world. I'm interested in painting as agency to negotiate the incapacity to say what is evident and apparent.
My hope was to do a loquacious painting, blithering its layers, but without divulging itself.
Let's assume there would be the possibility of a double.
